What happens to your room photo

You pick a photo on your phone or computer. It stays in this browser until you restyle. When you tap Restyle, Stayput sends that photo to our server so we can generate the new image. We do not post it publicly. Sharing stayput.grok.me does not share your rooms.

Is it sent to an AI provider?

Yes. To generate the restyle, Stayput sends the photo to xAI’s image API (the same company behind Grok). Try It in My Room sends your room photo and the product photo to that same API so it can place the item. We do not send them to Amazon, Target, Walmart, or Wayfair.

Training

Stayput does not use your room photos to train our models. We do not sell them.

Stayput calls xAI as an API customer, not through grok.com chat. xAI’s published API policy is that they do not train on API inputs or outputs without explicit permission, and they keep API requests about 30 days for abuse review, then delete them. We have not opted in to let them train on Stayput restyles.

Guest photos

If you do not sign in, the photo and result live on this device (browser storage). Other visitors cannot open them. Clearing site data, or starting another restyle, removes them from this browser. We do not keep a guest photo library on the server after the restyle request finishes.

Signed-in photos

If you sign in, room photos, restyles, and buy lists are saved to your account under My rooms. Only that account can open them. They stay until you tap Remove on a room.

Deleting

Signed in: My rooms → Remove. That deletes the saved photo and restyle for that room. Guest: Restyle another room, or clear this site’s data in your browser.

Account information

Sign-in is Google or X. We store the account id and the email or handle that provider shares, so rooms attach to you. We do not require a Stayput password.

What Stayput itself keeps

On our servers: for a guest restyle, the photo is used to generate the image and is not stored in a photo library afterward. We keep a short usage count (an IP or account id, not the picture) so daily restyle limits work. Signed-in, we keep the rooms you save — photo, restyle, budget, rules, buy list — until you Remove them. We keep the sign-in id and the email or handle Google or X sends. We do not keep payment details; Stayput does not take payment.

Shopping

Shop links open Amazon, Target, Walmart, Wayfair, or — for some wall art — a BIG Wall Décor collection via Awin. Those stores do not receive your photo. They have their own privacy policies. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Stayput may also earn from other retailer links. That does not change the restyle or the buy list.
